Doris Bennett-Glasper

Doris Bennett-Glasper was a native of East St. Louis, Illinois.  She began her career in 1970 with Katherine Dunham at the Performing Arts Training Center (PATC).  While training with Ms. Dunham, her credits included “Katherine Dunham Gala”, “McNeil Lehrer Report”, “Dance in America:  Diving Drumbeats”.  Also, she received her Master’s Certificate in Dunham Technique.


Her musical credits included “Anything Goes”, “Purlie”, “Gigi”, “The Sounds of Music”, “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” an “Fiddler on the Roof”.

While in New York she performd with the cast of “Bubbling Brown Sugar”, “Shade of Harlem” and is a former member of the Gallman’s Neward Dance Company.  She lived in Rome, Italy where she worked the the television station KAI as a dancer, singer and actress.


Doris was fluent in Italian as well as English and worked as a freelance performer and instructor.  Prior to her death, she was affiliated with the Girl Scouts of America.
